Pressure washers can clean almost anything, and they are an amazing tool to have around the house. However, using one for the first time can be a little intimidating. Follow these guidelines from our pressure washing experts to get the job done.

Types of Pressure Washers

  • Gas Pressure Washers: A gas pressure washer can deliver the highest level of pressure. They’re perfect for intense cleaning jobs like deep cleaning driveways or preparing siding for a new paint job. While this is the most powerful option, keep in mind gas-powered washers use more water, are loud and emit exhaust during use.
  • Electric Pressure Washer: Electric washers are perfect for residential use because they are quieter and lightweight. They are great for cleaning garages, washing cars and other tasks around the yard. They can also be used indoors because they do not emit harmful fumes.

Types of Pressure Washer Nozzles

Different nozzles deliver different pressures and it is important to know which nozzle you are using. A zero-degree nozzle makes the most narrow stream with the highest pressure, while a 65-degree nozzle delivers a wide fan stream and is more gentle. You can find nozzles with varying degrees and other pressure washer parts in Chicago at High PSI LTD. Keep in mind water pressure that is too intense can scare materials like wood or concrete.

How to Use a Pressure Washer

  1. Fasten the pressure hose to your gun tightly to secure it in place.
  2. Attach the pressure water nozzle that best suits the job. Varying degrees are often distinguished by different colored tips.
  3. Attach a garden hose to your system and turn on the water.
  4. Hold the nozzle and spray! It’s a good idea to test the intensity of your pressure in a small area before you get going.
